REVIEW

This book starts exactly where the first book of the series "Red Queen" ends. Mare and Cal escaped from conscription join the Scarlet Guard to bring down the reign of terror of the Silvers. But this time Mare has got a weapon- NEWBLOODS like herself, both red and silver and above them all. With Julian's list of newbloods she with Cal and the Scarlet Guard by her side sets out to find them, train them before the new found king (Maven) hunts them down. Well at some point they are successful in recruiting some of the newbloods but while for the others the king finds them first.
Will they be able to save all the newbloods? Will they be able to execute the plan of building the newbloods army? Will they be able to minimize the casualties in the process? Will the silvers join hands with the reds? Will they be able to bring down the reign of terror or just step into another trap? Will Mare become a monster or find herself? Will the divide between the silvers and reds be lost with the introduction of the Newbloods or turn into a greater division of blood? Will? Will? Will?

MY VIEWS

Well in the questions I have asked, I have given a subtle hint as to where the story is heading. Spoiler free, remember?! According to me the author did a great job in building up the worlds and the systems, the political situation, everything. But I was expecting a bit more. It didn't quite live up to my expectations after the first book RED QUEEN. The first part of the book was so slow paced that I had to push myself to complete it. But after the first 200 pages or so it takes on it's pace. I like the bits where they recruit the newbloods and train them. Some deaths are pathetic. I also enjoyed the political atmosphere prevailing over Norta and the bit of Mare and Cal's romanticism. Sorry but I am not a romance lover and like when it is kept to a minimal amount. I enjoyed the second half of the book , and I will be continuing with the series but not in the near future!
That's all folks. Hope you like the review. This was all I felt after reading the book. Let me know if you have read the book already. Does your thoughts tally with mine? Or is it just me?
See you in my next review. Until then Bye.
